Frisco, CO

Posted in Colorado on March 31, 2008 by dunbarsm

I am enjoying an unplanned stop in Frisco, right in the heart of the Rocky Mountains.  A storm has closed I-70 near Vail.  Looks like I might have to spend the night.  Unfortunate, I was hoping to hike in Arches National Park tomorrow.  Total driving time at this point: 25 hours.

Almost time…

Well “Easter Break” is just about over.  The last stop on the east coast will be Spruce Knob, West Virginia.  A chance to see some of the Grove City crew.  From there it will be a beeline for Arches National Park, Utah.

For those who like the stats, the last two weeks in the Adirondacks:

Total miles: 136

Total elevation climbed: 32,600′

Success!

Well it has been done.  About as perfect a day to hike as one could have.  Sunny, cold but not too cold, enough wind to be interesting but not too much to be a problem, virtually unlimited visibility, and even some massive butt slides on the return (one must have been 300 yards).  That makes 23 peaks in just 10 days of hiking.  It is good to be done, and believe it or not, I’m ready for a break.  I also look forward to doing some easy hiking out west :)
