Welcome

Posted in Adirondacks on February 15, 2008 by dunbarsm

I never wanted it to happen, but I have started a blog.  After looking around I think this may be the best way to provide updates over the next couple months.  I plan to use this blog for trip reports and post plenty of pictures.  Hopefully you will have fun reading up on what I’m doing.

The end is coming and a new beginning with it.  Let the fun begin….

Welcome to the Blog for the Great Western Adventure.  Currently hiking in the Adirondacks…..

 Flowed lands

This picture is from the Flowed Lands which should be familiar to some of you.  While normally a wetland/lake in the summer, we got to walk right across it this weekend

Navigating on the way to Cliff

The top picture is the leanto we stayed at.  The second picture is navigating on the way to Cliff, a trailless peak.  There was certainly plenty of snow.  Below are two pictures to give you a comparison of how different things can look between winter and summer.  I am standing next to the same tree in both pictures.

Cliff in the Winter

Cliff in the Summer

20 more peaks to make my Winter 46.  Starting March 1st I will be full time in the Adirondacks.  May it come right soon….
